While on this journey of discovery, Tantrum Theatre will present stories, history and magic of Newcastle’s oldest street, Watt Street. You will marvel as six sites in Newcastle, including The Lock-Up, as these historic buildings are brought to life through visual and physical theatre, song, dance and story-telling. Tantrum Youth Arts’ talented cast will take audiences on a journey through time as citizens of a future Newcastle in 2051, reaching back into the past as far as the 1800s and delving into some of Watt Street’s most interesting secrets and historical sites.

Drawing on the success of last year’s Diving off the Edge of the World, which brought to life the history and magic of the Newcastle Ocean Baths, Stories in our Steps is a multi-arts, multi-site-specific work that takes audiences of all ages on a walking tour through the oldest part of Newcastle and encourages them to interact with the past that emerges.
