• Are you an arts, culture or performance enthusiast aged 18-26, based in the Hunter region?

 

• Do you want to meet and collaborate with like-minded young people from diverse backgrounds?

 

• Are you looking to boost your career in the creative industries and gain hands-on experience?

 

• Do you want to connect with local cultural institutions and contribute your ideas for engaging young audiences at The Lock-Up and in the wider community?

Eligibilty

• This program is open to anyone aged 18-26 years old in 2025.

 

• Applicants must be located in the Hunter region, including local government areas Cessnock, Dungog, Lake Macquarie, Maitland,  Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton and the Upper Hunter.

 

• We welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds, skills and lived experiences.

 

• We strongly encourage applications from Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander peoples’, people with disability, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Commitment

• The Youth Advisory Panel is a minimum 12 month commitment, starting in June 2025.

 

• This is a volunteer-based program with professional development opportunities.

 

• You will need to attend monthly meetings, occurring on the first Wednesday of each month or as discussed with the group.

 

• You will need to attend funded field trips to learn about and discover other arts and cultural institutions throughout the calendar year.

 

• You will need to be passionate about developing and facilitating youth engagement programs at The Lock-Up.

 

• You will need to possess a free, volunteer Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one.
