LIVE AT THE LOCK-UP / Romain Hassanin

In collaboration with Catapult Dance Choreographic Hub, The Lock-Up is delighted to host Romain Hassanin for a two-week residency culminating in a public presentation of his recent choreographic research.
Running from 3–16 November 2025, this residency supports the development of a new interdisciplinary work and will conclude with a public showing at The Lock-Up.
Romain is a dancer who works between the realms of dance and physical theatre. He has extensive training in parkour, breaking, tricking, contemporary dance, swing dance, and martial arts. Currently based in Sydney, he is enjoying training and performing with Swing Katz.

ROMAIN HASSANIN
Romain is a French-Australian performer based in Sydney. His practice stems from breaking, acrobatics, martial arts, tricking, parkour, contemporary dance and physical theatre. He usually works between the realms of dance, physical theatre, circus and generally anywhere in between that fits.
He has worked with Legs on the Wall (Endling, Hillbilly Thriller, The Raft, Phoenix, Trestle, and Next Chapters II), Shaun Parker & Company (King, Axle, Hover, Trolleys, Bubble, Container and The Box), Big hArt (Skate project), Circus Monoxide (The Nanjing project for Asia Topa Labs), Dance Makers Collective (Dads), Catapult Dance (Awkward), Blindful (My Sight Their Sight, Embodied and Albatross), Little Eggs Collective (The Lost Boys), Alienation (Jake Silvestro and Romain Hassanin) and works independently in the Sydney scene. Choreography highlights include: site specific video and performance at Forum Q for Campbelltown Arts Centre, Flea Brain for The Flying Nun by Brand X, Hybrid Moves for Moonah Moves festival Tasmania and Crepitus for Inhabit dance festival Melbourne.
