JOHNNY BAKERLITE – THINKING OUT LOUD
The Lock-Up and the Newcastle Fringe Festival present Johnny Bakerlite…
4:30PM SATURDAY 23 MARCH 2019
4:30PM SUNDAY 24 MARCH 2019
Sweet, sad, quirky funny and dark, the songs of Johnny Bakerlite ( aka Sculptor John Turier) take you into other worlds. Part dream, part memory.
Falling into the Ballard of Jack Hill, you will discover a man who “no longer owns his bone” after performing the ghost dance or in the “Lament for a Sad Flag” you will hear how “a fickle smart bird can forget any word and replace it with what it needs now” or be aghast for “Dear Henry” when you learn that his “sleeping bed gets sold for the price of two tomatoes and a thin wedding ring of gold.”
Bakerlite underpins these poetic narratives with a dexterous guitar accompaniment sometimes as a driven percussive pulse or a bitter sweet lamenting eco.
Tickets $20. To purchase your tickets, click HERE.
