CURATOR IN RESIDENCE /
Isabel Whittle
20th May – 23rd July, 2024
Isabel Whittle is The Lock-Up’s COLLECT 2024 Young and Emerging Curator. Isabel will be working closely with The Lock-Up’s staff to develop and curate our annual fundraising exhibition.
ABOUT ISABEL WHITTLE
Isabel has served as a volunteer for The Lock-Up since 2021, and she has also been employed as a Casual Gallery Assistant with The Lock-Up since 2022. Curating the 2024 iteration of COLLECT builds on her previous experience of curating an archival exhibition in 2023, ‘Glamour on Glass’, with the University of Newcastle’s Special Collections. Aside from curating COLLECT, Isabel has recently been working alongside The Lock Up’s Director, Warwick Heywood, on a research project involving the history of the Lock-Up, which is a particular area of interest for her as a third-year Bachelor of Arts student majoring in History. As a current student, Isabel also works across several roles within the university itself, including working as an Advancement Services Assistant at the Office of Alumni and Philanthropy, and as a Project Assistant for the upcoming 50 Years/50 Stories exhibition at the University Gallery.
The COLLECT 2024 artist call out is now OPEN. Applications close midnight, Wednesday 29 May 2024.
