Curatorial duo, substance, will be working closely with The Lock-Up’s staff to develop their new multi-disciplinary event, GREASE.
substance is a curatorial project cooked up by interdisciplinary makers Belle Beasley (she/her) and Henry Dooner (he/they) between Newcastle/Muloobinba (AUS) and Paris (FRA).
Bringing together artists across performance, sound, and visual art, substance intertwines exhibition, performance, and party formats to respond to evocative and provocative concepts.
In 2023, substance debuted CAKE, exploring the world of the sickly-sweet and sugar coated. In 2024, substance pivots to the underworld of the unsavoury and untoward with GREASE, presented at The Croatian Club, Wickham, in partnership with The Lock-Up.
