In Memory of Johnny B. Goode is an “open work” spanning several years based upon a bizarre allegorical repurposing of the fictional pop cultural figure Johnny B. Goode anachronistically re-cast as the historical figure of the alienated artist/clown known as Pierrot. To date, this work has been remedialised as a rock opera, a radio play, and a ‘world tour’ of mime-based performances.

For this performance, Newcastle-based artist Zackari Watt will present “Johnny Robber”— the first scene of In Memory of Johnny B. Goode—World Tour of Abandoned Gaol-Houses 2016-2018 (Act III of The Ghosts of Nothing— In Memory of Johnny B. Goode—World Tour 2014-2018).

The final Ghosts of Nothing project will be presented as a major exhibition at The Lock-Up in 2018 featuring video and photo documentation of the “world tour.”
