THE BENDER
Calling all visual artists, musicians, performers, DJ’s, photographers, fashion designers, poets, filmmakers, architects, animators, video & sounds artists; you name it, we want it!
DEADLINE 12 SEPTEMBER 2019
This year sees the return of the best one night only art party in Newcastle, THE BENDER. This stellar evening continues to live up to its reputation as an all encompassing interdisciplinary feast featuring invited headline acts and local artists. THE BENDER encourages collaboration, experimentation, exploration and getting twisted.
We are seeking applications from visual artists, musicians, performers, DJs, photographers, fashion designers, poets, filmmakers, animators, puppeteers, video and sound artists; you name it, we want it! Even if don’t consider yourself an ‘artist’ but have an amazing idea for the space, pitch it to us!
Your project could be (but not limited to):
- A collaborative work between artists and different disciplines
- Site specific – take advantage of The Lock-Up’s unique history and architecture!
- Interactive or responsive
- Static or live
- Collaborative and multi-disciplinary applications are encouraged. The creation of immersive environments is desirable.
Works will be selected on their strength and cohesion within the show. Please submit your proposal by 5PM THURSDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2019.
PROPOSALS
Describe your project idea for us in full detail and submit a proposal completing all the fields in the form below by Thursday 12 September 2019.
LIMITATIONS
The Lock-Up is a heritage-listed building of national significance and limitations apply to how many of the spaces are used. Please refer to The Lock-Up’s Installation Requirement Guide for more detailed information to inform your site preference and installation methods.

Fee: Each selected project will receive an artist fee of $200
