CURATOR IN RESIDENCE / Stanisław Ruksza

We are pleased to welcome curator, art historian, lecturer, and Director of TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin, Poland, Stanisław Ruksza, as our International Curator in Residence on the occasion of our co-commissioned exhibition Cavitation by artist Izabela Pluta.
Stanisław Ruksza (born 1979) is a curator, art historian, lecturer and the Director of TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art in Szczecin since 2017.
Between 2008-2017, he was Programme Director of CSW Kronika in Bytom. He studied History of Art at the Jagiellonian Universityand postgraduate China Contemporary Studies at the Jagiellonian University. Since 2021 he is a Chairman of Council at the Academy of Art in Szczecin. Guest lecturer at the Academy of Art in Szczecin and Academy Of Fine Art in Cracow.
His research is focused on the relationship between art and social and political changes in our world, the issue of contemporary iconoclasm, representation of sexuality and death, and borderline phenomena in contemporary art.

In 2003-2004, he assisted Andrzej Urbanowicz, Polish cult psychodelic painter, at the legendary studio Piastowska1 in Katowice, with the production of the exhibition and book titled Katowice Art Underground after 1953 at Gallery OfContemporary Art Katowice 2003.
Ruksza was curator-in-residence in apexart in New York (2009), Careof DOCVA in Milan (2013, 2015), Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2017), MeetFactory in Prague (2018), Guangzhou Academy Of Art in Guangzhou (2024).
