The Lock-Up warmly welcomes Nina Stromqvist to the Artist in Residence 2026 program, providing a space to conduct research and writing for upcoming projects.
ABOUT NINA STROMQVIST
Nina Stromqvist is curator and writer with broad ranging experience across curatorial practice, arts management, and advisory work. Her career spans exhibition development, community-focused initiatives, consultancy, and research. She was recently contracted as a curator with Urban Art Projects (2025) and has also held the role of Curatorial Programs Manager at Penrith Regional Gallery, Home of the Lewers Bequest (2022-2024). Nina currently teaches at UNSW Art & Design and the University of Sydney, specialising in Museum studies and Contemporary Curating. Nina has written extensively on contemporary art and has written reviews and essays for Memo Magazine, Artist Profile and Art + Australia. In 2022 she co-Curated Cementa Festival, supporting regional arts communities through residencies, exhibitions, and installations in Kandos, NSW. She also spent many years with Freeman Ryan Design as Curator and Manager of content and heritage interpretation, following curatorial roles at the Australian War Memorial and the Art Gallery of NSW.
