ABOUT ELLA PATERSON
Ella is a photographer, writer, arts worker and emerging curator working on Awabakal and Worimi land. As an artist, She is drawn to the subtle, often transient details in fleeting moments of energy that reveal more complex truths than first apparent. Ella works across both modern and analog formats, as well as the written word, embracing a multidisciplinary approach that reflects her belief in the power of combining creative practices to enrich visual, sonic and verbal storytelling.
She has worked as a photographer professionally, and has experience curating and realising collaborative arts events within the Newcastle arts ecology. She operates between the fine arts, videography and the music industry, and draws from an extremely varied range of inspirations and influences. This has informed her curatorial interests; lo-fi, gritty, spaces where the whimsical exist beside a harsher reality.
Ella has volunteered at The Lock-Up since 2023 and completed a curatorial internship here in 2025.
