Vicky Browne
19th April – 23rd April, 2022
Vicky Browne will be participating in an Artist Residency at The Lock-Up for the research and development of her work for the exhibition PROMISE THE EARTH opening late June 2022.
About Vicky Browne
Vicky is interested in how sound forms our understanding of materials and objects. Her practice considers our connection to the cosmos and the world around us. It investigates how our own materiality is directly connected to space and the origin of ourselves (for instance, the big Bang). Her work considerers both macro and micro sense of place. She does this through the manipulation of materials, creating sculptural objects, video work and sound installations. She often uses a variety of craft techniques to make her work such as stain glass and ceramics as well as DIY electronics. Traditional craft methods are often relocated or re-contextualised to form new meanings and surprising outcomes. Her work is often kinetic and sometimes interactive.
