ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE / Loons
9th February, 2026
The Lock-Up proudly welcomes Loons as Artists in Residence, supporting their next stage of creative development.
ABOUT LOONS
Loons are a genre-blurring punk surf rock outfit hailing from Newcastle, NSW. Since forming in 2019, Elijah, Bailey, Rocco and Kye have carved out a reputation for electrifying live shows and a sound that fuses indie grit, surf punk chaos, and alt-rock nostalgia. Their performances are high-voltage, unpredictable, and unapologetically Loons, earning them a cult following across Australia’s east coast.
The band has shared stages with heavyweights like Grinspoon, Dune Rats, The Smith Street Band, The Terrys, Shag Rock, Press Club, The Cheaks, The Rions, and The Grogans.
Loons continue to evolve with each release, pushing sonic boundaries while staying rooted in raw Australian authenticity. With major festival appearances on the horizon and plans for international touring, they’re not just riding the wave, they’re reshaping it.
