CURATOR IN RESIDENCE / Dr Olivier Krischer

The Lock-Up warmly welcomes historian and curator Dr Olivier Krischer to the 2026 Artist in Residence program.
Dr Olivier Krischer is a historian and curator of art from East Asia and the Asian Australian diaspora, whose research concerns modern and contemporary transcultural art, photography and intermedia practices. His recent publications include the edited, co-authored book John Young: The History Projects (Power Publications, 2025) and Wayfaring: Photography in Taiwan, 1980s–1980s (with Shuxia Chen, Australian Centre on China in the World, 2025). In 2024 he curated ‘Assembly’ (2024), featuring eight Hong Kong-born artists, including work by the Australia-based artists John Young, Nikki Lam, Cyrus Tang, Rainbow Chan and the late Hiram To. He is a Lecturer and Program Convenor for the Masters of Curating and Cultural Leadership, at UNSW School of Art & Design.
