The Lock-Up warmly welcomes Andrew Shillam supporting the presentation of his solo exhibition at The Creator Incubator and the promotion of his publication of poetry, Night Sonnets, through the Artist in Residence 2026 program.
ABOUT ANDREW SHILLAM
Andrew Shillam studied visual art at the University of Newcastle in the 1990’s and began exhibiting ceramic sculpture, linocut prints and wood carvings at rental galleries in Newcastle. He met the painter Rindi Salomon in 1997 and they started exhibiting together. They traveled and worked in the UK in 2000 before getting married and having two kids. They moved to the Clarence Valley in 2005 but continued to exhibit in Newcastle showing regularly at John Miller Galleries. They have had 13 exhibitions together over the last twenty six years. Andrew Shillam works in a range of mediums including ink, paint, sandstone and wood and he writes poetry. He has exhibited art in Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and at the Grafton Regional Gallery.
