ABOUT KEG DE SOUZA
Keg de Souza is an Australian artist working with mediums such as; inflatable and temporary architecture, food, mapping and dialogical projects to explore the politics of space. This investigation of social and spatial environments is influenced by her formal training in architecture and experiences of radical spaces through squatting and organising. She often creates site and situation specific projects with people, with an emphasis on knowledge exchange. These often manifest as inhabitable structures that host pedagogical platforms for learning about place. These temporary architectures becoming a framing device for various social, cultural, economic and political narratives and, through a centring of voices that are often marginalised, look at the past and present to imagine a more democratic future.
Recent exhibitions include; Convivial City, Open Plan Commission, South London Gallery; Common Knowledge and Learning Curves, Griffith University Art Museum, Brisbane (2019) and Artspace, Sydney (2018); The National: New Australian Art, AGNSW (2017); 20th Biennale of Sydney – The future is already here, it’s just not evenly distributed and Setouchi Triennale, Japan (2016). www.kegdesouza.com
