During her extended residency as part of The Lock-Up’s Artist in Residence Program, Morawetz will be completing a durational performance within The Lock-Up’s historical cells. Summit (for Everest) is a durational work that completes the winding of an 8,848.86 m (29,031.7 ft) ball of string –– a length equal to the world’s highest mountain. Questioning our perception of scale (and the act of scaling great heights) Morawetz compresses the epic into the ordinary –– shifting the measure of distance, time, and endurance-based labour toward an act of absurdity.
