Picnic Ramble

Bring the family along to a Picnic Ramble at the wetlands on Kooragang Island. Bookings essential.

A fun and family friendly chance to experience the site that inspired the exhibition and the Scott family publications.
Dress up in your “Sunday best”, bring your friends and family and a picnic rug.
Play games on the lawn, walk the mangroves, hear about the work being done on the Koorangang Wetlands Rehabilitation Project and listen to artist Cherie Johnson talk about the indigenous living history of the site and her experience of participating in the exhibition Ash Island and Its Transformations. For those wanting to stretch their legs a little more join us for a stroll through the grasslands to Scotts Point at 1.30pm.
Lunch and drinks provided.

From Newcastle head towards Hexham on the Pacific Hwy. Turn right onto Ash Island Bridge (narrow cement bridge) off Pacific Hwy, just before McDonald’s Hexham.
