ABOUT LUCAS DAVIDSON
Lucas Davidson is an artist who works across a variety of media including sculpture, photography, video, sound and installation. His works are often temporal in nature and are recognised for their ability to challenge perception. Employing light, space and movement to slow down the viewing experience, Davidson creates environments that actively engage viewer participation in order to question ideas about materiality.
Davidson completed his Master of Fine Art at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney (2012). Recent solo exhibitions include: Casual Forces, Maitland Regional Art Gallery, Maitland (2019); Social Construct, Installation Contemporary Carriageworks, Sydney (2018); I am a Strange Loop, Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney (2017); Animal Magnetism, Canberra Contemporary Art Space, Canberra (2016); Habitual Loop, The SUBSTATION, Melbourne (2015); The Weight of Water, Linden New Art, Melbourne (2014).

ABOUT GAVIN VITULLO
Gavin Vitullo is a multi-disciplinary Newcastle based artist who studied Fine Arts at Hunter St Tafe and Newcastle University. Gavin is most recognised for his work in sculpture, having been awarded first prize on consecutive occasions in the Newcastle Emerging Artist Prize for sculpture. Gavin has been a finalist in the Gosford Art Prize 5 times and in 2016 he won the Hunter Region Botanical Gardens sculpture prize. In 2017 Gavin s first public sculpture ‘Undercurrent’ was installed at Billy’s Point Teralba. That same year Gavin was awarded first prize at Sculptures in the Vineyard, Wollombi for his contemplative work ‘Breathe’. Gavin works out of a studio space at the Creator Incubator in Hamilton North, his poetic practice continues to evolve and develop through a cross pollination of mediums. Gavin has an affinity with reclaimed, salvaged and sustainable materials. He has an innate understanding of the natural world and this often resonates through wood, as he combines concept and craftsmanship harmoniously.
ABOUT DR UNA REY
Dr. Una Rey completed undergraduate studies in Fine Art at Charles Darwin University (formerly NTU) in 1995 and worked in the Aboriginal art sector for over a decade, including five years managing Indigenous community art centres in Central Australia and on the Tiwi Islands. In 2006 she moved to Newcastle where she completed her PhD in 2009 on cross-cultural painting practices. Rey is currently convenor of the B.Creative Industries Degree and has been teaching art history at UON since 2008. She also works as an independent arts writer, curator and painter.
