AiR TIM BRUNIGES
Tim Bruniges is a Sydney based visual artist and musician. His residency at The Lock-Up will assist with the development of the group exhibition STATIC + SILENCE.
Working across a range of media, including installation, sound and video, Tim Bruniges’ practice centres on exploring notions of perception, the fallibility of memory and our relationship with time. Often taking the form of site-specific installations, the works attempt to create immersive spaces that allow for a disruption of expected temporal experience.
Bruniges is a current PhD candidate and earlier in 2015 was the recipient of an Australian Postgraduate Award and Research Excellence award from
UNSW. He holds a MFA from UNSW Art & Design and a BA (Mus) with distinction from the University of Western Sydney. Bruniges was recently awarded the Greene St Studio artist residency in New York, was a highly commended finalist in the 2014 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) and the John Fries Award 2014/2015.
His work has been written about in Hyperallergic, New York Magazine and The New York Times and has exhibited works in Australia, the USA, Germany, France, Iceland and Russia. Bruniges has composed music for feature films and was a founding member of Sydney based band The Dead Sea.
