The Lock-Up is looking for a new Curator to join our team. This is an exciting and multifaceted role that will be responsible for the co-ordination of a busy exhibition schedule and artist-in-residency program promoting national, international, and regional contemporary artists.

• A dynamic, motivated, relationship builder with demonstrated experience in a similar role in a small to medium sized arts organisation.

 

• Your qualifications in fine arts/ cultural studies are put to good use supporting your well-honed organisational skills.

 

• Familiar with managing events, rostering staff and volunteers, and front-of-house activities are second nature as you work with us to coordinate events, network and grow your profile.

 

• Your passion to build connection and long-term relationships with the arts community is a top priority.

• Program and curation of a highly engaging artistic calendar of 6 major exhibitions annually

 

• Manage installation and de-installation of exhibitions/events – advise artists/independent curators on heritage requirements, WHS, technical capabilities and equipment available

 

• Develop artists’ talks, film, dance, theatre, and music performances

 

• Manage our nationally acclaimed Artist in Residence Program

 

• With the Director develop The Lock-Up’s Patrons Program and other key stakeholder relationships

 

• Coordinate contractors, casual staff, and volunteers

 

• Manage The Lock-Up’s national and local marketing material/programs

 

• Manage administration systems, and communications, including website and newsletters

 

• Follow the Director and Newcastle Historic Reserve Land Manager Board and Crown Lands NSW edicts to ensure its mandate for community engagement within our historic precinct is met.
